Exciting Ideas for Truffle Recipes

Every food connoisseur knows how important truffles are for culinary purposes. Their strong flavor and aromatic smell makes them ideal as flavor enhancer in preference to as main ingredient in a dish. Cooking truffles is a big no-no, as it ruins the truffles' natural flavor. Exceptions are foie gras and pates. Instead, you slice or shave them over risotto, soups, sauces, pasta, and even plain scrambled eggs. Transform your bland dishes into flavorful and appetizing ones! There is a broad variety of truffle recipes that you are able to experiment at your own kitchen. You don't have to a chef to achieve that! All you need are a little knowledge of how to work the truffle's magic.

The accompanying are some ways to make cooking with truffles an easy task for you.

* Get your truffles from your local gourmet shops or specialty stores. Of course, you don't have to go in search of truffles in the forest. That's too time-consuming and laborious a task, unless it's your hobby.

* When trying to find truffles, smell them to check their odor intensity and freshness. Truffles that have been stocked for quite a while gradually lose their strong smell. Also, choose truffles that are well-textured, evenly shaped, blemish-free, and firm.

* Pick ingredients that complement the truffles without lessening their strong flavor. In a truffle recipe, try not to use ingredients with good flavor or pungent smell as they might upstage the truffles. What's the point of using truffles if you cannot taste their distinct flavor?

* Never delay using your freshly purchased truffles. That way, you make sure that the strength of their taste remains when you add them to your favorite truffle recipe. Outlet your truffles for a maximum period of three days in the refrigerator.

* When storing your truffles, wrap them individually in paper towel and place them in a sealed jar to ensure that its odor won't affect other foods in the fridge.

* Irrespective of variety, truffles are preferable when paired with fat-rich foods such as cheese (Parmesan, Asiago, and Romano varieties), butter, cream, and foie gras.

* Truffles are great with pasta, too. Grate them over the creamy sauce of your pasta, and you are sure to take pleasure from savoring this flavorful dish.

* Have a hearty breakfast courtesy of black truffles blended with scrambled eggs or omelets. The strong flavor of truffles will blend well to the mild flavor of egg dishes.

* Don't cook truffles together with some other components of your truffle recipe. Instead, you just add them after the primary elements have been cooked. That way, you avoid ruining the truffles' flavor.

* Enhance the flavor of your poultry meat by inserting thin slices of raw black truffles under the skin of uncooked chicken, duck, or turkey.

* Add truffles to sauces created with brandy or wine for a flavor boost.

Truffle recipes are excellent when you decide, outlet, prepare, and cook them properly. So you waiting for? Have a good time and enjoy your scrumptious truffle-flavored dishes!

It was a wonderful 2nd ODI between Australia and India after !st ODi has been washed out.

India was able to chase the scores successfully, and statistically its been "This is highest run chase by India against Australia in ODIs, Previous Best was 275/4 at Sharjah in 1998"

Chasing a huge target of 290 runs for victory, India got off to disastrous start by loosing the debutant opener Shikhar Dhawan in the very first over and then M.Vijay who looked solid during his stay of 15 runs off 18 balls with just 35 runs on the board. However a superb partnership between Virat Kohli (118 runs off 121 balls) and Yuvraj Singh (58 runs off 87 balls) of 137 runs for the third wicket put India right back on track and then brilliant quick-fire 84 runs partnership between Suresh Raina (71 runs off 47 balls) and Kohli for the fourth wicket made sure that India will be the winner when game is over.

Post Commentary Session

Kohli: I was really struggling when I was in the 70s and the 80s. I wanted to bat with Suresh Raina and be there till the end. I was trying to hit the ball too hard at the start, but thanks to Vijay for calming me down and telling me to focus on timing. Someone like Yuvraj batting at the other hand is a welcome sight as he can help with his experience. We just decided to build a long partnership and capitalize on the Batting Powerplay. I have been given a fair chance at number three, the captain has shown immense faith in me and I would love to bat at that number. The dew allowed the ball to come easily onto the bat.

Virat Kohli is the MoM for his outstanding 118 which guided India to victory.
Dhoni: We wanted to get a decent start. Although Dhawan got out, Yuvraj and Kohli shared a decent partnership. During the break in the Aus innings, we wanted to know how much dew was there. I thought that the spinners would get turn, but the wicket was flatter than expected. Cameron White tore us apart at the end, but our batsmen stepped up to the plate. When Yuvi is batting, he is a free scoring stroke maker. Virat has been criticized for not converting his starts into big scores, but he capitalized on this opportunity today. What is important is we have to go out and win the last game on Sunday. We have tried some things today and it has worked out well.
Michael Clarke: I thought we had enough on the board. Cameron White played the best ODI innings that I have seen. The Indians scored freely in the first 15 overs, Kohli scored a century and the Indians were just too good today. Hastings and McKay were good with the ball. We have to rebuild, the boys are excited about the next game and we have some improvements to make in some areas.

Interesting fact:
  1. The last seven highest scores of Kohli in ODIs have all resulted in a victory for India.
  2. 50th ODI win for Dhoni as skipper, India have maintained their perfect record at this stadium at Vizag - played 3 and won 3

DIET PILLS? are they really safe?

Diet Pills available over the counter (OTC) contain a combination of medications, usually phenylpropanolamine (PPA) and caffeine, which act to control appetite. The active agent in these medications, PPA, is a central nervous system stimulant and has many effects on the body, one of which is to depress the desire to eat. Caffeine, also a stimulant, results in increased alertness and decreased drowsiness and fatigue when taken in low doses (50-200 mg). Caffeine also has some weak appetite-suppressant properties.
Recently, the effectiveness of PPA-based diet pills as weight control agents has bee questioned. Studies show that although PPA may act on the brain to depress appetite, this effect is minimal, and PPA can produce some serious side effects, such as high blood pressure, nausea, restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, and hallucinations.
Caffeine also affects circulatory function and has unpredictable effect on blood pressure. Because overweight people run a higher risk of hypertension, using PPA-based diet pills in the recommended dosages may seriously damage health, especially in those people who are unaware.

Losing weight with Green tea

Green tea is rich in flavonoids, a group of plant pigments commonly known as bioflavonoids. Flavonoids function as antioxidants, protecting the body against some types of cancer; evidence that a subclass of flavonoids called "tea catechins" helps control fat oxidation suggests that green tea may play a role in weight management. The tea is usually brewed using 1 or 2 teasppons of dried tea in a cup of boiling water. Green tea extracts are also available in capsule form.

Want to lose weight fast?

If you have just a little weight to lose, and want to take it off fast (say, so you can fit into those great pants for your cousin's wedding), there are a number of diets that you can use. Most of these wouldn't be recommended for long-term weight loss, as they substantially restrict your intake of some essential nutrients, so using them habitually may not be healthy. But if you're normal diet is healthy, and you just want a quick boost to drop 8-10 pounds quickly, or to kick off a new diet with a bang, the Cabbage Soup Diet actually works.

The cabbage soup diet has been around for nearly 30 years. It's based on the notion that your body actually uses more calories to digest cabbage than the amount that it derives from cabbage. It's a so-called 'negative calorie diet', and includes many foods that, like cabbage, are high in fiber and very low in calories. The base of the cabbage soup diet is - what else? Cabbage soup. There are several recipes for cabbage soup available. Essentially, the soup is made with onions, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, celery and spices to taste. You'll be eating the soup every day - as much of it as you want.

In addition, there is a seven day routine of foods to supplement the cabbage soup. Day One: All the fruit you want (except bananas) along with all the soup that you want. No caffeinated beverages or sodas. Drink only water, tea and cranberry juice. Day Two: Eat all the vegetables that you want, but avoid dried beans, peas and corn. Eat veggies raw, fresh or cooked. No fats, no sauces, no butter. At dinner, you may have one baked potato with butter - and of course, all the cabbage soup that you want! Day Three: Eat all the fruits and veggies that you want from day two and day three - but NO baked potato. Day Four: Bananas and skim milk - yes, all the skim milk you want, plus up to eight bananas, along with -- you guessed it, all the cabbage soup you want. Day Five: Eat ten to twenty ounces of beef (or skinless chicken, or broiled fish). Drink at least 10 glasses of water, and eat up to six fresh tomatoes. (if you substitute for the beef today, you may not tomorrow) Day Six: Eat all the beef, vegetables and cabbage soup that you want. No baked potato. Lots of leafy green vegetables. Day Seven: You can have all the unsweetened fruit juices, brown rice, and vegetables that you want - and at least one bowl of soup. That's it. Remember - this diet is NOT recommended for long term weight loss, or long term use. It doesn't contain enough complex carbohydrates to be healthy for longer than a few days. But if you just need a jump-start or a quick fix, it's a good way to pick up the pace for a week.
